Fault codes related to diesel aftertreatment system often result in inconvenient vehicle downtime and expensive repair costs. Technicians who are trained specifically in diesel aftertreatment system theory and operation can prevent system failures, reduce fault codes, minimize vehicle downtime, and most importantly significantly reduce expensive maintenance and repair costs. This two-day course, based on EPA diesel emission regulations, spans all major engine manufacturers, and teaches technicians troubleshooting and service procedures surrounding current diesel engine aftertreatment emission control systems.
Who Should Attend?
Technicians with at least basic skills in heavy-duty vehicle repair, responsible to maintain, diagnose diesel engine aftertreatment emission control systems.
Course Objectives:
Describe the progression of Diesel Engine Emission Control History & Technology Advances
List the three major emissions being reduced using diesel aftertreatment technology.
Describe the function of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) in diesel engines.
Describe the operation and diagnostic procedures of the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) & Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
Describe the operation and diagnostic procedures of the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) System in relation to the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Catalyst
Interpret Fault Code Troubleshooting Logic
Implement aftertreatment maintenance, troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tests.
